I think this is pretty much in every industry: most of the people looking at the spreadsheets actually have no idea what happens on the floor, in the field, on the road, etc.
I agree. If you hire people and tell them: here is your job and clock in and out daily, that is reasonable. I need money and you need work to be done, no problem. But, if leader or a manager in the company wants to claim beyond having a job, we are also friends or family, then they need to put some effort into living up to that higher standard. I never thought of Jeff as a family member, but to me he was a friend, and I still think about him and I miss him.
